Our History

i-Health, Inc. was founded in 2011 by integrating Amerifit Brands with i-Nutrition, DSM's consumer brands business. The strengths of DSM's science and ingredients, combined with Amerifit's expertise in marketing brands, has paved the way for i-Health, Inc. to deliver new innovative products to the marketplace.

Amerifit Brands had its humble entrepreneurial beginnings in 1995 in the marketing and sales of sports-oriented dietary supplements. As consumers demanded more from the wellness industry, Amerifit saw an opportunity in 1999 to merge with Medical Foods. This allowed us to move beyond sports-oriented dietary supplements and towards more health and wellness oriented products. During this time, Estroven® was developed and launched to offer an herbal supplement to provide drug-free menopausal symptom relief.*

In April 2005, The Charterhouse Group, one of the oldest and most established private equity firms in the United States, acquired Amerifit Brands. This further facilitated our expansion in the health and wellness industry. Seeking to be a leader in the general wellness arena, we acquired AZO and Culturelle® to strengthen our position in the market with strong brand recognition.

In February 2010, Amerifit Brands was acquired by Martek Biosciences Corporation. Martek, a leading innovator in fermentation technology, developed and patented two fermentable strains of microalgae, DHA and ARA.

In February 2011, Royal DSM N.V. acquired Martek and Amerifit. DSM, headquartered in Herleen, Netherlands, is a global science-based company active in health, nutrition and materials. By connecting its unique competences in life sciences and materials sciences, DSM is driving economic prosperity, environmental progress and social advances to create sustainable value for their stakeholders.

Since 2011, we have continued to build upon this strong multidimensional platform to be a leader in the development, marketing and distribution of branded consumer health and wellness products.
